Attractions in the Principality of Liechtenstein
Visitors to Liechtenstein have so much that they can do. The museums, the sights and the natural landscapes.
As a result, Liechtenstein is an ideal destination for anyone looking for sporting and leisure activities. The mountains are freely accessible, with accommodation available nearby. The mountains also provide a location for winter sports enthusiasts, centred on Malbun.
During the summer, the numerous restaurant patio and terraces provide an ideal setting to enjoy the gourmet meals and excellent local wines. Alternatively you can enjoy the local outdoor swimming complex in Vaduz, or shopping in Vaduz, Buchs (Switzerland), Sargans (Switzerland) or Feldkirch (Austria).
During the summer, Liechtenstein also hold two notable festivals. The national holiday on the 15th August provides visitors and locals a party atmosphere in the streets of Vaduz, with a tremendous firework display to crown it off. And the film festival runs for approximately 10 days at the football stadium in Vaduz.
The winter highlight is Fasnacht - though if you go for that, don't expect to sleep much - Liechtensteiners know how to party. This happens every year just before the start of Lent, ending on Shrove Tuesday. As a result this is a moveable party, there are no fixed dates.
